Vice President of Finance, Administration, and Information Technology; Chief Financial Officer

Tom Cox oversees the association’s finance department, information technology department, and overall society administration.  As Chief Financial Officer, Tom provides ITS America with high-level financial planning, accounting, and budgetary management.  Tom directs the financial and administrative functions of the contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation; and develops, compiles and monitors the operating budget for the society. He also serves as the staff liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees of ITS America’s Board of Directors.

Tom has 20 years of finance and accounting experience. Prior to joining ITS America, Tom was the financial auditor and LAN administrator for Dembo, Jones, Healy, Pennington and Marshall, where he conducted OMB Circular A-133 financial audits of medium-sized companies and administered the firm’s IT infrastructure. In addition, Tom was the finance manager, controller and network administrator for the American Institute of Biological Sciences, where he developed cost proposals and administered several multi-million dollar government contracts with NASA, AID and U.S. Army.

Tom is a certified public accountant and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland University College.  Tom’s Information Technology certifications include Microsoft MCSA, Lotus CLP, Citrix, and Blackberry enterprise management.
